Resident Evil 5 (see GAMESPOT Review) is available for the Playstation 3 and the XBox 360. The evolution in the series continues, with spectacular graphics and attention to detail. Another neat thing about Resident Evil 5 is that even after you ‘beat’ the game, there’s enjoyment to be had. If you’re a long time Resident Evil fan or you’ve never played any of the games in the series before, you’re in for a treat. Partner up and get ready to rock Resident Evil style.
Resident Evil the series is now over 10 years old. The franchise has gone through a lot of changes, but it’s gotten better instead of worse. Oh, the games have had their ups and downs, that’s for sure, but overall, the Resident Evil games keep getting better, even 13 years later.
It was Resident Evil 4 that really changed the course of the series, though. Resident Evil 5 expands on the action direction taken in that game. It also adds co-operative play, though, which adds a new element to the game.
Don’t worry, though, the thing that makes the whole series so great is still there – tension, and lots of it. It’s more of an action horror game, though. There are scores and scores of infected Africans and mutated monsters to battle in the game.
Sheva, your companion in the game, has pretty good AI (artificial intelligence), for the single player experience. It’s still better, though, to battle through the game with a buddy, tallying body counts like the dwarf and elf in Lord of the Rings.
Anyway, if you’ve played Resident Evil 5 or are a fan (or hater) of the entire Resident Evil series, we’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment below and let us know what you think. It only takes a moment. Smile.
Til next time, remember which character is carrying what BEFORE you get to the boss!
