The Maw (see GAMESPOT Review) created for the XBox 360 by Twisted Pixel isn’t a long game and it doesn’t have a long lived, well known and loved main character, but it still has life. It’s a short life, maybe, as it doesn’t take long to complete the game, but it’s unique and funny in an all ages sort of way and that does a lot for making this game one you should have in your collection (if nothing else, to spur more games of this type.) If you like to giggle, laugh, and think about weird aliens and what they might be like, The Maw is a game for you.
The Maw is a large alien that likes to eat. You’re his side-kick buddy, an ant looking alien named Frank. Nice, huh? As The Maw eats, he gets bigger. And bigger. And, well, BIGGER as the game progresses.
As the meals (other alien creatures) change during the game, some of them begin to offer The Maw (and you) extra abilities that allow you to do different things in the game.
The gameplay in The Maw for the Xbox 360 is rather simple. In this game, it’s more about the humor and scenes of The Maw eating moreso than strictly controlling him or doing dangerous stunts. It’s kinda like an interactive weird comedy cartoon maybe.
Because it’s a rather short game, the price isn’t too high, which is good. You don’t want The Maw chewing on your wallet now, do you?
If you’ve played The Maw for the Xbox 360, we’d love to hear from you! How long did it take you to complete the game? How much did you laugh? Do you think there’s room for an ongoing series of games with The Maw? Whether you liked the game or not, we want to hear from you. Leave a comment.
Until next time, keep feeding The Maw.
